Versions:
NeoChat, developed by KDE e.V., is a desktop Matrix client whose current unstable build 26.03.80 continues an eighteen-release evolution toward complete compliance with the open Matrix communication protocol. Designed for users who want a secure, decentralized alternative to centralized chat services, the application enables encrypted transmission of text, images, videos and voice clips to family, colleagues or friends across any homeserver on the Matrix network. While the roadmap still excludes VoIP calling, threaded conversations and select edge-cases of end-to-end encryption, NeoChat already implements every other stable portion of the Matrix specification, letting rooms, spaces, reactions, edits, read receipts and push rules work out of the box. Because the specification itself moves quickly, the KDE team compiles in a range of experimental MSCs: interactive polls (MSC3381), installable sticker packs (MSC2545) and location sharing events (MSC3488) are all usable today, giving early adopters a preview of features likely to be ratified later. The software is therefore positioned both as a daily-driver messenger for privacy-conscious teams and as a test-bed for developers who need to verify upcoming Matrix capabilities. NeoChat is available for free on get.nero.com, with downloads supplied through trusted Windows package sources such as winget, always delivering the latest version and supporting batch installation of multiple applications.
